Welcome to BWAA's Virtual Youth Challenge

Bowling Writers Association of America and VirtualTournaments.com are proud to present a new weekly Scholarship Tournament for Youth Bowlers, the Virtual Youth Challenge (VYC).
The Virtual Youth Challenge (VYC) is designed to encourage Youths to bowl in weekly leagues by providing an avenue to win Scholarships with their league scores. Our Tournament will also aid in the funding of the Chuck Pezzano Scholarship Fund in addition to the USBC's YES Fund.
Parents: Have you ever spent money on your child's bowling tournament only to have them win less than what you spent? Travel, Hotel, and food expenses, not to mention the entry fee into the Tournament itself. It can all add up to a lot of money for little return.
US Military Parents: Are you in Guam, Japan or any other Military base with your children? Are your children wanting to compete with other bowlers but having a hard time finding a Scholarship Tournament in your area?
Now, your child can just join a league at your local bowling center and compete for Scholarship with the Virtual Youth Challenge (VYC).
Utilizing the weekly Bowling League scores, youth bowlers can compete for Scholarships in a national Bowling Tournament.
We offer:
- A simple, "Highest over Average" Tournament Format to encourage the Youth to always strive to do their best
- 1 in every 5 Bowlers will win Scholarship money
- Two Age Divisions
- 8yrs - 12yrs
- 13yrs - 20yrs
- Handicap is 90% of Highest Entering Average
- We will use USBC's SMART Program to administer YOUR Scholarship money
- Entry Fees are only $5.00 per entry, per league
Where is the VYC held?
In your own bowling center! We use the scores that you bowl in your bowling league and apply those scores towards the Tournament.
How does it work?
Each week, bowlers submit their scores either by manually entering them on the site, or, if the League uploads to LeagueSecretary.com, then the scores are automatically entered.
We then consolidate and display all scores. On Wednesdays, we begin the verification process by physically calling the Bowling Centers or League Secretaries (sometimes both).
Once all winning scores are verified, we then calculate the Scholarship winnings of the Tournament. This is usually completed by Friday for the previous weeks Tournament.
Winners will have their winnings placed into an account in their name with SMART within 30 days.
